BABYMETAL announced that they will be releasing original “BABYMETAL TAROT CARDS”. The first 2.000 orders will receive a limited edition numbered exclusive illustration of the members of BABYMETAL.
There will also be a special event held in September with “metal fortune-teller”, Maiden Hashiyama, who will shuffle the tarot cards while head-banging. This event will be held in Tokyo and requires a lottery entry.
These tarot cards were designed by illustrator Isana Kagami, who has designed many of BABYMETAL’s t-shirts over the years. The Major Arcana are a set of 22 cards and each beautifully designed card showcases BABYMETAL’s unique concept. These cards are stored in an originally designed box which have been developed using a special foil printing technology called “S Prism Print ®.”
What are Tarot Cards?: For those unaware, tarot is a pack of playing cards used in various parts of Europe from the mid-15th century. Apart from games they have also been used for card reading and fortune-telling, which is what BABYMETAL seems to be going for. As for the “Major Arcana”, it’s the name given to the cards of a Tarot pack. You can find out more about them on the Tarot Wikipedia page.

Fortune-telling Event (in Tokyo, Japan)
Those that purchase the tarot card set will have the ability to enter a lottery for a special “Fortune-telling” event in September. 10 winners will be selected by lottery to attend “Metal’s Fortune Telling Hall”, to be held at HMV & BOOKS SHIBUYA (Tokyo, Japan) on Saturday, September 11th.
“Heavy metal comedian” Hashiyama Maiden (Hashi-Metal) will perform using the “BABYMETAL TAROT CARDS” while head-banging.
There may be a mistake, as the listing says that it will be “Some place in Tokyo. The location of the event will be announced only to the winners. The time zone cannot be specified.” but on another page they do specify it’s between 2 and 4:30 PM at the HMV & Books in Shibuya.

Notification Period: Winners will be notified via email by the end of Friday, August 20th.
The winners will be asked to provide the necessary information to participate in the contest by the deadline stated in the e-mail. Not replying by the deadline means your entry may be invalidated.

- BABYMETAL members are not scheduled to perform.
- Details will be announced only to the winners.
- One entry per order. Only the person who ordered may apply. Only the person who won will be allowed to enter the event. There shall be no recording or photography in the event.
- Due to the ongoing pandemic, masks are required, as well as the use of alcohol disinfectant, and having a temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or lower. There will also be a sheet between the fortuneteller and the customer to prevent droplet infection.

Too bad its not a full 74 deck. He won’t be able to give an actual reading, barely shuffle, unless he uses another deck combined with them. I hope they come out with another deck that focuses on the four suits one day to add to the collection- cups, wands, swords, and pentacles. It would be AMAZING. I’d buy them in a heart beat. They look amazing!! Especially if they feature the girls in the deck.
